Once, a skin flick appeared on the tube. You see, these were the days when, after a certain hour, premium cable ran myriads of softcore, and occasionally more; the days before all the media was owned by billionaire raiders, before the religious right's malicious crusade for christfascism, or what they call "religious freedom." But I digress...
As the film began to progress, "This is art" I thought aloud, and whipped out my pen. After some hand and arm motions, I was done; a drawing sketched from the film. I think that piece is now in Germany or somewhere.
Time passed, not much time, or maybe it was. I operate on geologic time and so have difficulty perceiving existence in 24 hour cycles. So after that time, randomly or at least in a manner I no longer recall, I came across the Jacobellis v. Ohio case. "Justice Stewart was right" [when he said "I know it when I see it"] I thought, not aloud this time. "Furthermore, there is no difference between art and pornography. These are indefinable, abstract notions which lie in the eye of the beholder. I'm going to start making art, in my rambling, roundabout way, as a bridge between "art" and "pornography," deliberately highlighting their inseparability. Also, years later, I may make mushroom art which may confuse people but IDC."
In conclusion, it's long past time for single payer healthcare, and if you think a baby in a terra cotta pot with a giant fucking crocheted flower hat is art you should probably stopped reading a long time ago. What's that? You didn't know some things people call "art" aren't art? Well that, gentle reader, is a story for another day.
